Westan closure

Westan tanning company, based in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, USA, closed at the end of April with a loss of more than 150 jobs. Westan had announced the closure in January 2005 after 138 years in business. They had been the last remaining sole leather tannery in the USA.
At the beginning of the year, they employed 154 people, with the workforce being reduced to 50 by the end of operations.
