New president for BGA
John Spanner TD CC, past master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers has been elected president of the British Glove Association, after being nominated by the past president, Lt Col Roderick Morriss.
John Spanner worked for Standard Chartered Bank from 1963 to 2000, retiring as Group Head of Purchasing with responsibility for purchasing all goods and services worldwide.
He joined the Worshipful Company of Glovers in 1982. He was elected to the Court of Assistants in 1994 and served as Master between 2002-2003.
Commenting on his new appointment, Spanner said: 'I am honoured and delighted to be elected president of the BGA. The association has a vital role to play in promoting its members' interests, and in obtaining the true recognition that the glove manufacturers, suppliers and retailers warrant. I intend to ensure that I play a full part in this task.'
