Cognis first quarter results
Global specialty chemicals supplier Cognis achieved net external sales of €875 million in the first three months of 2006. This represents a 12.1% increase on the same period of 2005. Adjusted EBITDA was up 17.4% at €113 million, and the company's profit margin increased to 12.9%.
All of Cognis' strategic business units (SBUs) achieved sales growth. The company's increased adjusted EBITDA reflects strong sales and continued operational improvements.
The Process Chemicals division, which comprises leather technology, saw sales grow by 8.3 % to €64 million, compared with €59 million in the first quarter of 2005. Performance was particularly strong in the Asia-Pacific region, where Cognis reports double-digit sales growth in both textiles technology and leather technology businesses.
