Average wages in eastern Europe
Macedonia's State Statistical Office reports that the average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's leather industry in the first quarter of this year was 33.7% higher than in the same period in 2005. In comparison, the annual increase in the average monthly wage in Macedonia's manufacturing sector as a whole was 1.9%.
Croatia's Central Statistics Bureau reports that the average gross monthly wage in the Croatian leather industry in the first quarter of this year was US$561, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Croatia in the first quarter was 6% higher year-on-year at $1,143.
Ukraine's State Statistics Committee reports that the average gross monthly wage in the Ukrainian leather industry in April was $127, compared with the average industrial wage in Ukraine in April of $224.
Romania's National Statistics Institute reports that the average gross monthly wage in the Romanian leather industry in April was $221, a fall of 4.1% compared with the previous month. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Romania in April was $402.
