Not all methods adopted in new standards memorandum
IULTCS and ISO have announced a memorandum of understanding towards a new working relationship. The document between the two organisations was signed in December 2005, establishing a mechanism by which ISO and IULTCS can publish joint standards. The IULTCS commissions are in the process of compiling the database of method to be sold as a CD-ROM. This will include all IULTCS methods.
Meanwhile, there are a number of methods that are used by other regional organisations such as the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists (SLTC) ie they have not been adopted by IULTCS. There is a concern that these may be lost in the new system and so a review of these methods is planned. Volunteers are being sought by the SLTC to offer assistance in this task. The next stage is to arrange a meeting of the technical committee and ay other volunteers to commence the review.
Methods that need review are:
SLC 9, 12, 14, 16
SLC 100 - 406 (approx 70 in total)
SLF 3, 5, 6
SLP 12, 13, 20, 21
