Croatia's Central Statistics Bureau reports that the production of leather and leather products in Croatia in the first eight months of this year was 19.2% higher than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, industrial output in Croatia in the January to August period was 7% higher year-on-year. Croatia's labour productivity in the leather industry in July was 25.7% higher than in the same month in 2006. This increase in productivity partly resulted from the year-on-year decrease of 9.8% in the number of employees working in the industry.
Macedonia's State Statistical Office has reported that the production of leather and leather products in Macedonia in the first eight months of this year was 1.8 per cent lower than in the same period in 2006. In comparison, manufacturing output in Macedonia in the January to August period was 4.3 per cent higher year-on-year.
A substantial increase in the average gross monthly wage in the country's leather industry in the first seven months of this year has been reported. Wages increased by 17.6% year-on-year, as compared with the annual increase in wages in Macedonia's manufacturing sector of 6.1%. Montenegro's Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Montenegro in the first eight months of this year was a substantial 353% higher than in the same period in 2006.

In comparison, overall industrial output in Ukraine in the January to August period this year was 10.9% higher year-on-year.
