Irish production in September
Ireland's Central Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Ireland in September was 37.4% lower than in September last year. The combined turnover of leather industry companies in Ireland in September was 2.9% higher year-on-year.
Ireland exported raw hides and skins worth e62.2 million in the first eight months of this year, compared with e44.6 million in the same period in 2005. Imports of the same types of commodities in the January to August period were worth e2.7 million, as against e1.4 million in the corresponding period last year.
The number of cattle slaughtered in Ireland in the first ten months of this year was 8.6% higher than in the same period in 2005.
