Joint medical shoe venture for Pakistan
For the first time, a joint venture is being set up by three companies for the production of about 100,000 pairs of shoes for Pakistan. The shoes will be produced at the factory of K Shoes, Lahore, and the partners involved are Gulf Footwear Company of Dubai; Caser Everg GmbH; and K Shoes, Lahore. The project involves an investment of Rs50 million (US$827,000).
The understanding is that K Shoes will manufacture the footwear in Pakistan while Bata Pakistan will market the shoes under the brand name of 'Dr Mauch'. These are specialist medical shoes which should increase circulation of blood in the body. They will be beneficial for cardiac and blood pressure patients.
The Lahore Chambers of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) president said that he is happy to see that K Shoes and Dr Mauch (MOK) are entering into a Memorandum of Understanding to manufacture MOK shoes in Pakistan, as the technologies, manufacturing and marketing would be retained within the country and create a synergistic chain.
