Eagle Ottawa auction off plant
Following the closure of their Centurion facility in Johannesburg, Eagle Ottawa South Africa Ltd recently auctioned off the leather processing plant and finishing machinery, furniture and equipment.
In November 1997 Eagle Ottawa opened a plant in Ekandustria, South Africa, the first Eagle Ottawa integrated cut/finish and contract-sew factory in this part of the world. Located 60 km east of Pretoria, the facility was also intended to process more than 5,000 cattle hides per week.
When production outgrew the capacity, finishing, cutting and sewing were transferred to the Centurion plant and Ekandustria was left as a wet-blue tannery. Both sites have now closed.
