LANXESS management board
At LANXESS, Dr Werner Breuers has succeeded Dr Ulrich Koemm on the management board. Dr Breuers takes up his duties on May 14, 2007. At its meeting on May 8, the supervisory board of LANXESS AG agreed to Dr Koemm's request that he leave the company prematurely. Supervisory board chairman Dr Rolf Stomberg comments: 'The supervisory board and management board of LANXESS AG would like to thank Dr Koemm for his enormous contribution to the company's success, and especially for his work to strengthen the businesses for which he was responsible.'
Breuers comes from the Basell group, where he was most recently president of Basell Polyolefins Europe, headquartered in Hoofddorp near Amsterdam. He obtained his doctorate from Aachen Technical University and began his career in 1989 in the research and development division of Hoechst AG in Frankfurt. After holding a number of managerial positions at Hoechst, Breuers became head of sales and marketing at Hostalen Polyethylen GmbH in 1998 and was also a member of the board of directors of Hostalene Polietilene Italia Srl in Milan, Italy. In 1999, he joined polyethylene manufacturer Elenac GmbH of Kehl, Germany, and Strasbourg, France, as vice president licensing and catalysts. A year later Elenac became part of the Basell Group.
