Azerbaijan – Production in 2007
Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee reports that Azerbaijan imported raw livestock hides and skins, and leather and leather products, worth US$1.93 million in 2007. Azeri exports of the same types of commodities in 2007 were worth US$9.73 million.
Leather and leather products worth US$18.2 million were produced in Azerbaijan in 2007, compared with production worth US$8.3 million in 2006 and US$5.4 million in 2005. The leather industry employed 1,000 people in 2007, compared with 900 people in 2006 and 1,000 people in 2005.
There were 25,800 cattle in Azerbaijan at the end of 2007, compared with 23,500 at the end of 2006 and 22,500 at the end of 2005. There were 282,600 sheep and goats at the end of 2007, compared with 272,400 at the end of 2006.
