Belarus hide exports

Belarus' Ministry of Agriculture and Food reports that raw hides were one of only two agricultural commodities not to see an increase in their export in the first five months of this year compared with the same period in 2007, according to the Belta news agency.

Belarus' Vice-Premier, Ivan Bambiza, has said that his country's programme to revive rural areas should focus on increasing production of high protein fodder, the large-scale upgrading of cattle-breeding facilities and the creation of a powerful processing industry, according to the Belta news agency. The programme is running from 2005-2010.
