Wages in Eastern Europe

Macedonia's State Statistical Office reports that the average gross monthly wage in the Macedonian leather industry in the first half of this year was US$275, 51.7% higher than in the same period last year.

In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's manufacturing sector in the January to June period this year was 7.9% higher year-on-year at US$483.

Poland's Central Statistics Office reports that the average gross monthly wage in the Polish leather industry in the first seven months of this year was US$799, an increase of 9.7% compared with the same period in 2007. 

Serbia's Statistical Office reports that the average monthly wage in Serbia's leather industry in the first seven months of this year was US$401, 21.9% higher than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, the average monthly wage in Serbia in the January to July period this year was US$853.
