USDA report fewer cattle on feed

In its monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, USDA noted fewer numbers of cattle are forecast to be placed on feed,
leading to lower beef production in 2009 even with a slight offset due to a higher expected cow slaughter, reflecting dairy herd reductions in the latter part of the year.
