Ukraine's State Statistics Committee reports that Ukraine imported raw leather, leather and leather products worth US$7.95 million in January, a year-on-year decrease of 26.6%. Exports of the same types of commodities in January were worth US$10.9 million, a year-on-year decrease of 45.2%.

The average monthly wage in Ukraine's leather industry in the first two months of this year was US$118, compared with US$119 in the same period in 2008. In comparison, the average monthly industrial wage in Ukraine in the first two months of this year was US$236.

There were 5.35 million head of cattle in Ukraine on March 1 this year, 6.4% fewer compared with the number on the same date in 2008. Ukraine imported livestock worth US$4.5 million in January, a year-on-year increase of 43%. Livestock exports in January were worth only US$15,200, a year-on-year decrease of 93.7%.
