Chinese President visits Italian tanners

Chinese president, Hu Jintao has visited two Italian tanneries in the Santa Croce tanning cluster in, Tuscany, Italy. The visit which took place on July 7 included a visit to the Conceria Ausonia tannery.

In 2008 the Chinese, prime minister, Wen Jiabao, also visited two other local tanneries, Dolmen and Camaleonte.

The president was in the country ahead of the G8 summit hosted by the Italian government but has subsequently flown home early to deal with civil unrest in the Chinese region of Xinjiang.
