Dear editor,
My office phone has not stopped ringing, my mailbox is full ever since the ban on dimethyl fumarate (DMF) came into effect. Anxious customers have been requesting me to mail or fax the test report and the custom declaration certificate that silica gel is free from DMF as their shipments have been stuck at various ports all across Europe.

We should understand that the ban is on DMF and not on silica gel. To tell you the truth I was also amused to find out what exactly is the problem and what is DMF. My intense research brought the following facts:
DMF is an ester and it has medicinal properties. Dimethyl fumarate has been found to be an allergic sensitizer at very low concentrations. Hence when brought in direct contact with a human it causes an allergic reaction.
We found that in order to cut costs and preserve the inferior quality wood inside the sofa for long periods of time from moisture and fungus some Chinese manufacturers used these powerful packets of dimethyl fumarate to prevent mould growth.

Since it was used in packets and used for the same purpose people all over the world are now scared to use silica gel and they thought that silica gel since it is being packed in pouches also contains DMF.
Silica gel is nothing but (SIO2  H2O) sodium silicate treated along with sulphuric acid. Sodium silicate is produced from natural sand. In fact, silica gel is 100% recyclable and reusable any number of times. We can regenerate silica gel pouches if we heat them at certain temperature. We have tested silica gel many times but time and again the result is same: it is 100% free from DMF.
I would once again assure you that silica gel is 100% safe and there cannot be any other product which can replace its efficiency both in terms of performance and economy as well.
