India
Published:  03 December, 2009

The India International Leather Fair (IILF), organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) from January 31 to February 3, 2010 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai will celebrate its 25th edition next year.

IILF is the main event organised by the ITPO catering to all segments of the leather and leather supply industries. 2010 marks the silver jubilee edition of the show. Over the past 25 years the fair has helped the Indian tanning and finished leather products sectors modernise resulting in a dramatic increase in exports of leather and leather products from India.
The fair is supported by the Indian Council for Leather Exports (CLE), Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Indian Shoes Federation (ISF), Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers & Exporters Association & Footwear Design Development Institute (IFEAFDDI).
Forward bookings to participate next year has been overwhelming from both Indian and overseas companies. Bookings for group participation from China, France, Germany, Italy, Pakistan and Thailand have already been received. Many individual companies from Bangladesh, Czech Republic, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Turkey, UAE and the United Kingdom have also booked space. The space available in the halls & convention centre has almost been completely booked and a waiting list is being established. Owing to the constraint of space at the Chennai Trade Centre, additional space by way of setting up temporary pavillions is being contemplated to accommodate a number of prospective exhibitors.
Being the 25th edition, a number of concurrent activities are being planned for the benefit of the industry. A pavilion depicting latest leather colour and fashion trends will also be set up by the CLRI.
The CLE’s and ITPO’s overseas offices are in constant liaison with overseas buyers to be invited to visit IILF 2010. With recovery in economy in sight, business prospect is expected to be good during IILF 2010. Further details of the fair can be found at www.iilfleather.com
