UNIDO provide support for Sialkot
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) have assured complete technical and financial assistance and support for the leather products and tanning industries around the cluster of Sialkot. It was announced on May 30 that UNIDO are supporting the relocation of businesses from the city to the purpose built leather business complex.
Addressing separate meetings with the Pakistan Glove Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) and the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), Ivan Kral, industrial development officer, UNIDO, reviewed the industrial development pace and its export potential, as well as, evaluating the tanneries and environmental pollution.
‘A pollution-free environment is vital for a smooth and rapid industrial growth and UNIDO will provide the maximum technical and financial assistance to the Sialkot business community as it is high time to implement several anti-pollution joint ventures with Sialkot business community’, he said.
