Lanxess - Sustainable Leather Management
Lanxess will be presenting premium products for the manufacture of shoe upper, upholstery and automotive leathers at the IILF 2011. Jürgen Hackenbroich, regional head of the Leather business unit for Asia Pacific, says: ‘Sustainability is our priority when developing products. By that we mean not just minimising waste but maximising product safety and ensuring that we comply with REACh. We also develop modern, energy-saving processes that conserve natural resources and avoid the use of critical raw materials.’
The new long-term program ‘Sustainable Leather Management’ with guiding principles for the leather manufacturing process is a logical consequence of what Lanxess have successfully started recently. The company have already focussed on environmental needs and developed chemical and technological solutions, which helped improve the environmental footprint of leather. Examples are Euderm X-Grade for waste reduction, Aquaderm X-Shield for life time extension, Levotan X-Cel for light weight leather and eutectic preservatives of the Preventol U-Tec range.
