Swiss drum and automation specialists, Hüni have dramatically increased their sales and production of large polypropylene (PPH) drums. The demand for replacement or transformation of wooden drums continues to rise.
The Hüni New Jumbo drum features a greater loading capacity compared with traditional drums. The maximum load of the New Jumbo drum can reach up to double the load of a standard drum with the same dimension, but with a water saving of 30% and an energy saving of almost 50%.
Hüni have not only sold complete new drums, but also substituted old wooden drums using the existing hardware, hence buyers invest only in the PPH material.
Until recently, PPH drums were considered suitable only for retanning and dyeing but with PPH being resistant to all tanning chemicals, including the most aggressive agents such as enzymes and peroxides, PPH New Jumbo drums are becoming more and more popular for liming and tanning. The paddle version of the Hüni New Jumbo shelf configuration assures delicate liming which results in top quality leathers.
To transport these large PPH vessels, Hüni ship them in open rack containers and they think that they will become a more common sight at ports all over the world in the future.
