M Rafeeque Ahmed, founder and Chairman of the Indian leather and footwear group, Farida and the current Chairman of the Indian Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has been awarded a prestigious, 'Padma Shri' award by the Indian government. He was recently presented with the award at a ceremony in New Delhi and is regarded as one of the highest honours that the Indian government can award.
M Rafeeque Ahmed was congratulated by members of the Indian leather industry during the opening ceremony of the recent, IILF which took place in Chennai on January 31. Speaking at the IILF he said that he 'was honoured' to receive the award.
