Solofra Eco mark

Tanners from the tanning cluster of Solofra (Avellino) in Italy have launched their own Eco Leather mark. A group of tanners from the region introduced the mark at the APLF in Hong Kong, March 30 – April 1.

The Solofra Tanning District mark has been awarded to tanners, which have good eco-compatibility and are located in the Solofra area. The mark has been introduced and awarded by the Chamber of Commerce of Avellino, using a scheme based on the EC Regulation 761/2001 – regulating  the voluntarily compliance of organisations to an EU eco management and audit system (EMAS II). For this purpose, a Certificate of APO (‘Ambito produttivo omogeneo’ or homogeneous manufacturing area) EMAS Solofra was issued to the Solofra district by the Eco label and Eco audit Committee.

Currently, 24 companies belonging to the Solofra tanning district have applied for the mark. This includes all the tanneries that participated at the recent APLF MM&T. The tanneries include the following:

Antica Manifattura Pelli Srl

Carisma Spa

Conceria Alfa Srl

Conceria RI.PELL Srl

Conceria Romana Srl
