New topcoat system for soft leathers from Clariant
There is a clear ongoing trend through all furniture and nappa leathers for improved softness and feel. The challenge for the finisher is always to balance out the customer requests for both, the physicals and aesthetics.
Clariant’s new topcoat system based on Melio 09-W-66, the dull component and Aqualen Top GC-2033, the glossy one, have been developed to achieve these two characteristics, wet-rub resistance and a pleasant, natural feel.
Both products can be mixed in any ratio to achieve the desired gloss level. Melio 09-W-66, a dulled aqueous mix of selected polymers and additives and Aqualen Top GC-2033, an aqueous polyurethane dispersion, have – besides their pleasant feel and high wet rub resistance – the following common characteristics:
- soft feel
- wet touch
- no post hardening
- high flexometer values
- excellent flow out properties
Both products can be mixed with each other in any ratio but can be used alone as well.
