Hide imports grow in Shishi

Following increased demand for imported hides into Shishi the city’s Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reported a sharp upturn on imports of salted hides in the first four months of 2011.
Volumes showed a growth of 81.4% to 6,533 tons and the value grew by 139% to US$14.9 million, according to a report from city’s Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Hides imported from the US surged by 245% to $11.5 million the report said.
Shishi is located in the municipal region of Quanzhou, Fujian province on the country’s South Eastern coast.
