(L-R) Buckman Asia Technical Manager Sivasankaran Ganapathy congratulates Ramu Ganesh on his Leather Award |
Ramu Ganesh of Buckman Asia was recently announced as the 2010 winner of the company’s Edward Weiss Memorial Award. This global merit award is given annually in recognition of individual excellence in the fields of research, applications technology, marketing, or technical support and sales within the company. Based in Chennai, India, Ganesh is Technical Support Manager for Microbiocides and Buckman Beamhouse and Tanyard Systems (BBTS).
He has helped fellow associates throughout Asia and Africa to introduce products, solve problems, and demonstrate added value to customers as they transition to Buckman products and processes. He played a key role in the development of new products, running production trials, and helping to close sales. BBTS continues to make progress as a benchmark for raw to wet-blue processing worldwide.
The name of the award comes from a pioneer of leather science, Ed Weiss, who was hired by Dr Stanley Buckman to take microbicide products into the leather industry in the USA and help solve some of the preservation problems experienced by tanners. His efforts would eventually span the globe, and leather would become a core business segment for Buckman.
