Shoe fair targets northern India
The Footwear Materials, Manufacturing and Technology (fMM&T) show took place May 12-14 in Greater Noida near New Delhi and attracted much of the footwear industry of Northern India. The fair also featured Fashion Access and focussed on the footwear and leather goods sectors in the country. Leading brands, suppliers and industry experts representing Puma, Reebok, Lee Cooper were represented.
'Footwear is an integral, and a very substantial part, of a larger global fashion business. Footwear manufacturers, international buyers and suppliers of accessories need to keep up with fast changing fashion demands in colours, materials and designs for the forthcoming fashion seasons', explain Michael Duck, Director, APLF who are co-organisers of fMM&T along with the Indian Footwear Component Manufacturers Association, IFCOMA.
India has one of the fastest growing leather and footwear industries in the world and exports of leather and leather products reached $2.7 billion between April to December 2010. Up from $2.5 billion in 2009. Exports from the leather sector are expected to reach $3.7 billion for the full financial year 2010-11.
fMM&T took place at India Expo Centre, Expo XXI, Greater Noida, New Delhi.
