Henan province to close 10 tanneries

The provincial government of Henan have announced a list of companies that it deems to be ‘outdated’ which will be closed by the end of this year for environmental reasons. Henan province is situated inland eastern China near the city of Zhengzhou.
According to a report in the Henan Daily from 167 enterprises effected, 10 are tanneries. They are to close by the end of 2011 as they have low production capacities and poor effluent treatment facilities. From the 10 tanneries to close 7 of them are in Jiaozuo city, 2 in Zhoukou and 1 in Shangqiu city.
