The Chairman of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA) S Z Aziz Ahmed has requested that the provincial government act quickly to support Pakistan’s second largest export sector by resuming water supply to the tanning zone in the Korangi Industrial Area's Sector 7-A.

Drawing the attention of Governor of Sindh and the Chief Minister towards deteriorating situation of the infrastructure in Karachi's tannery cluster he said that the precious foreign exchange earned by the tanning industry is being jeopardised if the tanners do not have enough water to carry out processing.

He said that following instructions from Governor Sindh, the water company (KWSB), Managing Director had visited the PTA's office three months ago and assured the PTA members about an early resumption of water supply to the tanneries. But after three months neither the water supply has been resumed nor any senior officer of KWSB has ever followed up these words with any actions.
