To achieve proper adhesion is one of the most important parameters in leather finishing. To meet the current specifications for different leathers, automotive as well as shoe upper, the finishing film has to be perfectly connected to the crust surface.

As a result of the steadily increasing percentage of chrome-free leathers used for automotive interiors, as well as the continuing demand for oily/waxy shoe upper leathers, a good adhesion is sometimes hard to achieve.

Clariant’s new Melio 03-R-163, an aqueous modified polyurethane dispersion, is the perfect tool to overcome adhesion difficulties. Besides its high adhesion promoting character,

Melio 03-R-163 has also a very good water resistance and does not load the grain. Furthermore, it does not affect or diminish the water resistance of waterproof leathers, which is of major importance especially for the shoe upper sector.
