JBS Cascavel awarded LWG silver status
The retanning and finishing plant of JBS Couros’s Cascavel-CE was audited by BLC Leather Technology Centre in December 2011 against the Leather Working Group protocol 5.2.2. It achieved a silver LWG tannery award.
The audit has also granted the tannery with a grade A for traceability. Traceability is an important part of JBS’s Leather Division strategy and to receive grade A demonstrates their commitment in the supply chain. JBS say; ‘The award proves that JBS’s robust traceability systems have the right tools to trace their raw materials from the finished leather back to the slaughterhouse and supplier farms, as required by the audit protocol for Brazilian suppliers’.
