Mississippi Beef Processors plant contractor, Sean Carothers has to pay $250,000 in restitution to taxpayers. He is also reported to be helping authorities investigate another person allegedly involved in the failed facility, which closed in 2004 after just three months of operation

It cost the state of Mississippi more than $55 million and the money will be returned to the state’s general fund. Carothers, is serving a 21-month prison

sentence in Florida. Carothers acknowledged paying $173,000 in kickbacks to Richard Hall Jr, who ran the Oakland, Miss, plant. Hall has been sentenced to eight years in prison and must pay $577,964 in restitution.
