Gucci join Indian boycott

Gucci's Domenico de Sole, in a letter to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said that the company had never considered nor would they ever consider the possibility of establishing a leather unit in Calcutta or anywhere else in India. He said it was a mystery where The Telegraph obtained this absolutely false information.

Sole said that PETA's letter had made a great impression and they had moved immediately to halt use of Indian leather. 'Please rest assured that Gucci will avoid any future contact with the Indian leather industry until the abuses in your letter are completely eliminated.'
