New 3D foot scanner for custom and orthopaedic shoemaking
The FotoScan foot scanner is a brand new foot scanning system that is set to revolutionise the custom and orthopaedic shoemaking sector.
Instead of lasers, FotoScan uses unique 3D photographic technology to capture instantly the precise shape and size of the human foot. Taking just three seconds to acquire, the captured digital images are transferred to a standard PC where the FotoScan software automatically creates a perfect 3D model of the foot.
The data produced by FotoScan is accurate to within an amazing 0.5mm. Outputting in a range of industry standard file formats, 3D CAD files can be used directly in the shoemaking process by any of the leading shoemaking CAD/CAM systems. Uniquely, FotoScan files can also be viewed as a complete 3D photograph of the foot, allowing the shoemaker to see all the features of the foot needed.
FotoScan is an attractive and well-engineered solution that is easy to use and simple to maintain. Believed to be the first genuine high volume foot scanning system , it can be used quickly and reliably in any retail and clinical environments. It should make a major contribution towards the development of affordable custom and orthopaedic shoes.
FotoScan retails at around €20,000 for a single system. The price includes installation and a full one year parts and labour warranty.
