Innovative polymer for retanning
Relugan SM is a member of a new generation of polymers from BASF, which are specifically designed to offer a combination of benefits with respect to the process of leather making and the character of the final leather.
Relugan SM is especially suited for all kinds of shoe upper leathers. The character of the leather is compact with a very tight and fine grain. The fullness of the leather is also significantly improved.
The amphiphilic nature of this polymer and the specific molecular design are responsible for the unique penetration behaviour of Relugan SM. In addition the polymer can also act as a transport vehicle for other components used in the leather process, especially fats and dyes, levelling their distribution.
Relugan SM is also at the heart of a new, economic dyeing process, where the dye is perfectly dragged through the cross section of shoe upper leathers, resulting in a very even cut.
