CPD success in Düsseldorf
CPD Düsseldorf was held from 24-26 July and attracted almost 44,000 specialist fashion retailers, one third of which came from abroad. Exhibitor numbers remained at the same level as the previous CPD, a positive result given the current economic climate.
Exhibition organisers IGEDO have also announced their intention to hold just one event per season in 2006. The company believes there is a need for one big, strong event in Düsseldorf rather than several small events each year, particularly after three fashion fairs in Berlin were recently cancelled. The German Textile Retailers' Association BTE and the German Fashion Associations have also been calling for one central international fashion platform in Germany
'By foregoing additional early dates, we want to set an example - despite substantial investment already incurred - so as to combat the current fragmentation of the exhibition scenario that impedes all market players', said IGEDO managers Frank Hartmann and Margit Jandali. 'At the same time, we will optimise the dates of CPD Düsseldorf in tune with market developments as from July 2006. This gives the industry the opportunity to centre on one healthy and well-performing international platform once again.'
The next CPD Düsseldorf will be held from February 5-7, 2006.
