Analysis of Brazilian exports for January

According to the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), exports of hides and skins submitted by SECEX (Foreign Trade Secretariat) for the first month of 2014 registered just short of $202 million, which means an increase of 22.5% over the same month last year when $165 million were exported. Compared to December 2013, the amount fell by 15.9% when the total exported registered a monthly record of $240 million. Regarding the quantity of cattle hides in January, 2.7 million units were shipped, which is an increase of 2.4% compared to January 2013, when the total was nearly 2.7 million.
