Argentina slaughtered 4% more cattle in 2022

The data comes from the National Control Directorat Commercial Agricultural, consigned by the weekly report of ROSGAN.

Steer slaughter was up by 18.4%, while cow slaughter was up by 11% compared to 2021. Females accounted for 45% of total slaughter, slightly higher than last year.

The data for December showed a slaughter of 1.22 million cattle, a volume 7.4% higher than that registered in December 2021.

According to Valor Agro, the ten largest refrigeration groups processed 3.84 million heads in 2022, accounting for 28% of the national total. The Beltrán and Swift Group led the rankings by plant and animal ownership, respectively.
