Clean-up of Hannock Tannery Begins

27 October 2018

Clean-up and restoration of tannery in Hancock, Maryland is now underway. The tannery, which was built in the 1950s and has been vacant since the 1990s has been undergoing a thorough clean-up process.

Funded by $200,000 worth of grant money, from EPA’s Brownfields program, the plan is to restore the tannery and make it an asset to the entire town.

At the end of the month the town of Hancock along with the Planning Commission will review the site and work out what, if anything, still needs to be done.
