This JV will involve the investment of €13.5 million in two production units, one in Mengzhou in the province of Henan, which will have a working area of 20,000 sq m and will deal with the bulk of production. The second unit will be located in Vic, Spain, and have an installed area of 2,500 sq m, dedicated to highly skilled tanning processes, mainly for the European market.
The Vic plant will also be responsible for R&D. The two production units are expected to be operational at the end of 2009 and will achieve a daily production of 15,000 skins.
Jaume Elvira, Colomer Group, stated that the JV would take advantage of the know how, production and environmental technologies as well as the competitive and business capabilities of Henan Prosper.
