Four projects aiming to boost Tamil Nadu leather industry approved

Four projects have been approved, under the Indian Footwear Leather and Accessories Development Programme, in Tamil Nadu in a bid to facilitate an upgrade of the sector’s infrastructure.

Upgradation of Talco Trichy CETP was also approved. And further money was set aside for upgradation of Pallavaram CETP at Nagalkeni Chrompet, Tamil Nadu.

The department has also given its approval, in principal, to a mega leather cluster at Bantala, in West Bengal.

"The proposal is ready to invest in the region of Rs 400-500 crore and is expected to generate around 7000 new jobs," the DIPP said in a tweet.
