16 January 2018

The Fuga Couros S/A tannery in soutthern Brazil is the first to receive the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability.

This achievement reflects its dedication to developing activities that equilibrate four dimensions: sustainability management, economy, environmental and social.

The CSCB is an unprecedented initiative that firmly establishes Brazil's leather sector with sustainable good practices

The norms that determine the required principles, criteria, and indicators were elaborated by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). Auditing for certification is performed by a certification body that's accredited by Inmetro, signing organ of the mutual recognition agreement in the IAF (International Accreditation Forum) and the ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) framework.

The Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability is supported by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) to keep the Brazilian leather industry in line with the demanding world market.
