Indonesian Ministry of Industry Spurs Leather Industry Growth

The Indonesian ministry of industry continues in its attempt to spur the growth of their leather goods industry.

In a written statement, the director general of Small and Medium Industries (SMI) said: "Indonesia has great potential to develop the leather, footwear and leather goods industry. Currently, Indonesia is in the sixth position in the world as an exporter of leather products, footwear and leather goods”.

The Ministry of Industry is to push ahead with its programme to improve the levels of human resources in the industrial sector. In addition, the Ministry of Industry has also revitalised the Tanggulangin SMI center in Sidoarjo, East Java, to encourage the growth of the leather industry, footwear and leather goods.
