ISA TanTec acquires major stake in Italian tannery

8 November 2017

International tanning Group ISA TanTec has bought a major share in Italian tannery Scamosceria del Brenta Srl (Scabrenta).

Scabrenta has developed distinctive capabilities since 1941, with the focus on specialised leather solutions for top consumer brands around the world. Under the terms and agreement, the senior leadership of the firm, Angelo and Filippo Gerolimetto, have invested in ISA TanTec, with other shareholders selling a majority share of Scabrenta to ISA TanTec.

Scabrenta, utilising its branded technology and knowledge of Italian leather making, will be an important R&D hub for a variety of leather solutions within the ISA group. More importantly, ISA will have the capability to deliver Italian-made leather to Asian markets, increasing the scope and quality of solutions for its customers.

Uwe Hutzler, CEO ISA TanTec, stated: “We are convinced that the investment into Scabrenta is another milestone in continuing to develop ISA TanTec into a global player in the tanning industry, now also covering Italy, the hub of fashion and leather making.”

ISA TanTec is an eco-friendly leather manufacturer and is owned by management and Navis Capital Partners, one of the biggest private equity firms in Asia.
