More than 350 companies confirm participation at Modacalzado + Iberpiel

21 January 2008

Exhibitors' collections for autumn-winter 2008/09 will be presented at the event at which more than 350 companies have already confirmed their participation, including famous names such as Lodi, Pedro Miralles, Pons Quintana, Chie Mihara, Casadei, Pedro García, Dorotea, Paco Gil and Pura López, all habitual exhibitors at MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL. The high levels of loyalty that the participating brands show to this event demonstrate its effectiveness as a trade and promotional forum for both the Spanish and international markets.
On this occasion, the staging of the fair between the other two grand European trade events within this field in Milan and Düsseldorf, will favour the attendance of foreign buyers at MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL, especially those travelling to European from far-off destinations. In this respect, the fair plans to implement various measures to boost the number of professionals attending the event from other countries, such as extending the Foreign Buyers Programme and boosting specific measures aimed at high-category clients from neighbouring countries such as Portugal.
The promotional image for the next edition of the fair will consist of the work entitled ‘Caminando’ (‘Walking’) by José Antonio López Rico, one of the winners of the Second CalzArte Photography Competition organised by the Footwear Museum of Elda.
MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL will occupy Halls 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 at Feria de Madrid and will be organised around the following sections: METRO, CASUAL, NIÑO ("Children"), COLOURS, CHIC and GLAMOUR.

Improved performance of the footwear industry is confirmed
The latest figures supplied by the Spanish Footwear Industries Federation (FICE) regarding the development of the foreign footwear trade throughout the year indicate that the recovery that began some months ago within the industry is now being consolidated.
Thus, over the first seven months of the year, Spanish footwear exports increased by 16.3% in terms of value, achieving a figure of €1.211 million, based on the sale of some 66 million pairs of footwear abroad, which represents a year-on-year increase of 7.6%. A quarter of Spanish exports go to France, Spain's main client, followed by the German, Italian and UK markets.
