The Brazilian Leather Webinar Series – Leather Business and Future Consumer is a great project that aims to share knowledge and positive experiences about leather, partner industries, and sustainability. This is a series of free webinars with the participation of major global brands, professionals, and companies. The first edition will take place on September 24th (Thursday), at 2 p.m. (GMT), and will address the theme Fashion and Sustainability. The panel discussion will be moderated by Yoann Regent, responsible for the sustainable sourcing of the Kering group. The panelists are Beto Bina (VEJA) and designer Walter Rodrigues, with the participation of Verônica Meurer (Courovale tannery). Register at: https://cicb.org.br/webinarseries

The Brazilian Leather Webinar Series is held by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), with the support of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF).

The debate (simultaneously translated into Portuguese and English) should share trends for fashion and sustainability, including tools for relationship with suppliers, which the consumer market has demanded, resumption of business operations, overviews, and perspectives. In this line of thought, the role of leather concerning environmental preservation, the economy, and society will be discussed. This debate should dialogue with the chain at an international level, bringing together an audience composed of the main fashion designers and consumers of leather in the world.

Moderator:

Yoann Regent. Biodiversity and animal welfare specialist in the sustainability programs of the Kering group (organization of Balenciaga, Gucci, Saint Laurent, and other brands in the luxury segment). Yoann's work focuses on building a supply chain for materials (such as leather, furs, and fibers) that meets the highest standards of biodiversity conservation and respect for animal well-being through the implementation of innovative projects, improvement programs, and partnerships. He also worked for five years in the sustainability department of the Ikea group.


Panelists:

Beto Bina. Responsible for managing VEJA’s production chains (called VERT in Brazil), a brand that focuses primarily on leather, cotton, rubber, and innovation projects. He is also the founder of FARFARM, a start-up incubated by Fashion For Good, in Amsterdam, and winner of Climate Ventures Brasil which develops responsible supply-chains projects.

Walter Rodrigues. Brazilian designer who started his career in 1983 as a stylist at Revista Manequim. Nowadays, he works as a product design consultant, coordinator of the Design and Research Center at Inspiramais, consultant at Instituto By Brasil, and curator of the Design Vision project of the Focus Têxtil Institute, a project on sustainability with students from Brazilian fashion schools.

Verônica Meurer. Partner and commercial manager at Courovale tannery, she holds a degree in chemistry by the Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA) and is responsible for researching and creating new articles. Courovale is widely present and recognized in the domestic and international leather goods market for the fashion sector, with a focus on sustainability, it has received the Gold Seal of the Brazilian Leather Certification of Sustainability (CSCB).
