22 December 2023

Saint Laurent, under the ownership of the luxury conglomerate Kering, has inaugurated a significant leather goods atelier in Tuscany. The renowned fashion label has established a sprawling 28,700 square-meter workshop in Scandicci, located on the outskirts of Florence. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to the production of prototypes for Saint Laurent's leather accessories, crafting product samples, and fulfilling special orders and bespoke requests for its primary clientele.

The strategic importance of leather goods to Saint Laurent is underscored by the fact that it constitutes more than 70% of the brand's overall revenue. The inauguration ceremony, held on Friday, December 15, was graced by the presence of Saint Laurent's CEO, Francesca Bellettini. Notably, Bellettini also serves as Kering's deputy managing director overseeing brand expansion, emphasizing the workshop's pivotal role in the label's operations. This development signifies a significant step forward for Saint Laurent in reinforcing its commitment to excellence and innovation in the realm of luxury leather goods. “Bringing together the development of both accessories and leather goods, the atelier will be an environment for sharing expertise, generating ideas and encouraging experimentation,” said Bellettini.
