The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) has revealed the preliminary figures of hides and skins exports for September 2014: US$ 256 million. The number has been compiled by CICB's Department of Intelligence, based on data released by the Department of Foreign Trade - Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).

The preliminary numbers result in an increase of 15.4% compared with the same period last year. In the yearly accumulate, the Brazilian leather sector registers a total of US$2.237 billion in exports, which represents a growth of 23% over the same period in 2013.

CICB evaluates that there is a decrease in cattle slaughtering all over the world, bringing a new positioning in terms of pricing within the international scenario. As a result, there is an adjustment in business volume.

The definite numbers from September are to be revealed soon. Leather participation in Brazilian exports remains at 1.3%.
