Stahl bring colour to Shanghai

27 August 2008

The highlight of Stahl’s display will be the special feature area showing leather made from different raw materials and finished using the new ‘Beautymaker’ system to demonstrate the benefit of using this unique finishing system to produce very natural and soft leather with optimal upgrading performance.
This will be accompanied by a range of oily/waxy surfaces, aptly named ‘Asian Cowboy’, which will be demonstrated on nubuck, corrected and full grain leathers. A sporty section will illustrate how to make high performance white leathers using all-water systems.
Bright colours will be the attraction on veg-tanned leather using a variety of finishes from Florentique to subtle pull-up effects and burnished and polished surfaces.
A series of smooth box leathers will have a soft handle and extremely tight grain in metallic and Florentique effects, using a novel water-based top coat to give an impression that the surface of the leather has been polished to produce a natural shine.
The latest embossing plates from Italy have been used to create a range of textured effects which reflect the graphical designs predicted by Stahl for the season.
Patent leather remains popular and examples will be shown which were finished using both high performance solvent and water-based formulations and featuring subtle metallic effects.
A group of waterproof finished leathers will demonstrate the results of the great skill and discipline needed in the selection of the products to be used in the finishing system and the avoidance of wetting agents. Stahl’s specially designed sealer coats ensure that the waterproof properties of the prepared leathers remain unaffected by the finishing process and that their adhesion properties remain assured.
There will be many hand-finished items where the use of tipping, washing the surface and antique applications to create very individual and unique effects on display.
A final area of interest will be crunched leather, flocked surfaces and gravure printing used to upgrade leathers. In this area, the use of foils to highlight trendy effects which may be oversprayed to enhance the surface design. Altogether, this represents an extensive and exciting collection based on the latest technology and trend information collected from Stahl’s global network.
