The future of 3D printed faux leather

17 December 2013

Renowned entrepreneur in tissue engineer Andras Forgacs is working on £D printing technology to produce animal products, like leather, without the animal. The CEO of Modern Meadow, a company developing novel biomaterials, has already developed a 3D printing method to produce human body parts and organs for medical purposes, and this is the next step in the technology.
Forgacs estimates that by 2050, it will take 100 billion cattle to satisfy human appetite for meat and leather, which will have a massive impact on air quality, water, and land.
